Are Your Feet Sore Because of Narrow Shoes?

Then it's time to learn what a tox box is and why it matters!

The toe box is the front part of your shoe where your toes are.

Simply put, a narrow toe box will squish your toes together when you are moving.

Toes squeezed together can lead to increased development of bunions, hammer toes, and general soreness after walking, jogging and/or running.

In a wide toe box shoe, your toes have the room to splay (like walking barefoot) and provide healthier mechanics for movement.

👟TOE SPLAY TEST FOR SHOES👟

To make sure you have enough space for your toes to spread follow this simple test:

👟Take out the insole from any potential shoe

👟Place it on the ground

👟Step on it

If your foot is hanging off the sides of the insole, the toe box is too narrow.

This means you either have to go for a bigger shoe size or choose a different style shoe that will give you the right amount of room for your forefoot.

As osteopathic manual practitioners, we can very deeply about your foot health! It connects you to the world and we want to make sure that connection is secure!
